Karen was born in Rotterdam, Holland in 1948 .
At the age of 7 immigrated with her parents to Australia
From very early on, art played an integral part in her life
and was always her preferred subject whilst at school.
For her, a simple pencil and piece of paper and the ensuing
sketches and doodles was all there was needed to captivate her.

Karen began her formal art education upon returning to Holland in 1978,
in which she received some basic steps and tips regarding creating art.
After this, she received guidance from Rob Hessels (a well known Dutch artist)
on the understanding and use of oil paints, an elusive medium.

Karen’s inspiration comes from a myriad of places;
most prominently the beauty of nature and people.
Although her medium of choice is oil, she has recently ventured into the use acrylics also.
She believes variety is the spice of life and this is reflected in her choice of subjects,
which changes with the seasons with consistency.

Most recently, Karen has moved from Holland to Ireland to be with her fiancé. This location was chosen for its beautiful scenery, tranquil nature and kind people.

To date, Karen has sold paintings in many countries (Australia, USA, Germany, England and Kiev, Russia) in addition to holding three exhibitions in Holland.

Hi there, thanks for dropping in to view my gallery, I've been a member of DA for more than four years now,and it's the best internet community around in my opinion, I'm crazy about photography, take my camera everywhere I go, also paint, mostly in oil, but sometimes have a dab with acrylics or water paint.
I'm a christian, and thankful to be one, love movies, books, good conversations and laughing.
my friends would call me an optimist and warm hearted, (at least that's what I'm frequently told)
I've made some very dear friends here on DA, and enjoy knowing them very much.
